My Favorite Pair of Earbuds That Stay in My Ears—Even When I Sweat

I love a good pair of earbuds, but I’m not one to spend an absurd amount of money on a pair either. I was recently in the market for a new pair because I lost the right bud of the old set—an annoyingly common problem of devices that don’t attach to you via cord or sit on top of your head. It didn’t hurt to lose them because they were pretty inexpensive, costing me around $20.

A couple of weeks ago, after impulsively deciding to hit the gym around 9:30 P.M., I remembered my lonely left earbud. I white-knuckled through that workout and made a mental note to get a new pair ASAP. I picked the JLab Go Sport+ True Wireless Earbuds.

Charging Them Is Super Convenient

I’ve tried the JLab brand before and loved them, but I was excited to see the array of color choices this model offered. I went with the teal because it wasn’t too bright or too boring. I paid the $30. They arrived the next day.

I loved that the case snaps shut tightly, so the earbuds feel secure when I put them back in. Because I always lose the charging cables for my earbud cases, I was pleasantly surprised that the charging port requires a USB-C cable, which matches my Mac laptop and my iPhone. I’ve already lost the charging cord, but I’m using my phone charger to juice up my new earbuds as I type this article.

You’ll Get Great Sound Quality for the Price

They connect easily to my phone via Bluetooth, and the sound quality is excellent. However, if you want something completely soundproof, these earbuds aren’t that. They block out some noise, but you’ll still hear a motorcycle zoom by or an obnoxiously loud car alarm. You won’t, however, hear your own breath, your footsteps during a run, or what people are saying next to you on a trail. That’s really all I needed. Also, I feel a little unsettled if I can’t hear any part of my surroundings. These earbuds give me a nice middle ground.

I confess: these features aren’t revolutionary, but because I tend to be late to the newest gear trends (and prefer to blow my spending money on home décor and skincare), these buds honestly felt like a shiny, new game-changer for me.

The phone call quality is great, too. I’ve chatted with my dad during a cool-down walk on my nearby trail. They also quickly hook up to my work laptop, so it’s easy to take a meeting from anywhere.

My Favorite Thing About These Earbuds

What I adore about these earbuds is that they don’t just sit in my ear canal; they wrap around my outer ear. This feature is a must-have if you, like me, a) sweat a lot, b) do any form of high-intensity exercise—especially running.

I love to run, but I hate, hate it when my earbuds start to slip out as I pick up my pace, or when my ears get slick with sweat. These will not fall out of your ears when you run.

And even though these earbuds aren’t completely soundproof and not ultra-fancy, they are perfect for someone who doesn’t want to spend a ton of cash on headphones, wants them to stay in, and wants good sound quality. If that’s you, I suggest adding a pair to your cart.
