Welcome to The Drop Zone, where we highlight the best new gear in and around the outdoor world.
This week, we have collaborations galore, including boots and a down jacket from Sorel and Barbour, a new shoe from Hoka and Halfdays, Rossignol’s pre-Olympic partnership with one of the world’s biggest soccer clubs, and On’s collaboration with New York’s Sky High Farm Goods. Plus, Vuori’s first-ever ski collection.
Sorel x Barbour

Two brands that were made to defy the worst weather conditions imaginable, Sorel and Barbour linking up just makes sense. Blending city sensibility and country living, the four-piece collaboration is designed to keep you comfortable regardless of what weather gets thrown your way. At the collection’s core is three of Sorel’s key footwear silhouettes, each dressed up in Barbour’s signature forest green. The final piece is one of the best puffers we’ve ever seen—a classic waxed Barbour jacket bulked up with 80/20 RDS-certified goose down for warmth in extreme cold.
Hoka x Halfdays Kaha 2 Frost Moc GTX

Another boot collab just in time for the winter, women’s outdoor apparel brand Halfdays has linked up with Hoka to create their own Kaha 2 Frost Moc GTX ($210), a puffy boot that’s ready to take on the cold. The slip-on snow boot has a GORE-TEX membrane to keep water out, Primaloft insulation to keep warmth in, and a heavy-duty Vibram rubber sole to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground. The shoe comes in two different colorways, each of which has a matching line of Halfdays apparel to keep you dressed up from head to toe.
On x Sky High Farm Goods

You’ve heard of On, but you may not have heard of Sky High Farm Goods. The brand supports Sky High Farm, a nonprofit farm in New York’s Hudson Valley that works to increase access to fresh, nutritious, locally produced food while also investing in long-term, collaborative pathways to food security. The collaboration with On is made up of two co-branded On Cloud 6 shoes, a long-sleeve tee, a cap, socks, and a beautiful photo book. Proceeds from the collection go straight back to the farm, helping them continue their work.
Rossignol x AC Milan Ski Collection

Après-ski and retro ski aesthetics have caught the attention of the fashion world, and French brand Rossignol has jumped on the trend with its own retro-inspired ski line, made in collaboration with one of Italy’s biggest soccer clubs, AC Milan. Why AC Milan and why now? Well, the team has a track record of designing impeccable collaborations with some of the world’s biggest fashion houses and this winter’s Olympic Games are being held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, right in the team’s backyard.
Vuori Snow

The mega-popular athleisure brand has moved beyond its coastal California roots to make its first snow collection. You may think this would just be a beefed-up version of the stretchy athletic wear the brand is known for, but the collection is a well-considered, impeccably designed line of technical apparel that has the approval of backcountry experts. The collection features men’s and women’s jackets and pants, all made with 100% recycled waterproof NetPlus® 4-layer fabric, AquaGuard® zippers, and fully taped seams to tackle the harshest days at the resort or in the backcountry.
