Kodiak Solutions Acquires BESLER to Close the "Revenue Leakage" Gap

What You Should Know

  • The Deal: Kodiak Solutions has acquired BESLER & Company, integrating a 40-year veteran of revenue recovery into its modern analytics platform.
  • The Tech Synergy: The acquisition adds BESLER’s specialized Transfer DRG software—used to detect Medicare underpayments—to Kodiak’s broader net revenue reporting suite.
  • The Strategy: This is a “platform play.” Kodiak is consolidating niche revenue cycle tools under one roof, allowing hospital CFOs to replace fragmented point solutions with a single, data-driven ecosystem.

Kodiak Solutions Completes Acquisition of BESLER & Company

Kodiak completed its acquisition of BESLER & Company, a market leader in hospital reimbursement. By absorbing BESLER’s specialized recovery tools into its massive analytics engine, Kodiak is signaling that the future of the hospital business office isn’t about having more vendors—it’s about having a smarter platform.

“Adding BESLER’s people to our teams and its products to the Kodiak platform serve our mission of simplifying complex business problems,” said Derek Bang, CEO of Kodiak Solutions.

The “Transfer DRG” Value Prop

While Kodiak is known for broad financial reporting and risk compliance, BESLER brings a very specific, high-ROI weapon to the fight: Transfer Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) software. For the uninitiated, Transfer DRGs are a complex area of Medicare reimbursement where hospitals often lose money due to miscoding patient transfers (e.g., discharging a patient to home care vs. a skilled nursing facility). Detecting these underpayments requires deep forensic analysis.

By integrating BESLER’s automated Transfer DRG validation into the Kodiak platform, the company can now offer hospitals a “closed loop.” Kodiak analyzes the broader financial health, while the BESLER engine hunts for specific, recoverable dollars in the background.

Consolidating the Tech Stack

This acquisition reflects a broader trend in Health Tech for 2026: The death of the “Point Solution.”

Hospitals, currently serving 2,300 facilities on the Kodiak platform, are tired of managing separate logins for net revenue reporting, unclaimed property, and reimbursement recovery. “Bringing Kodiak and BESLER together enables health system CFOs to accomplish more with their data and gain actionable insights,” Bang noted.

The integration promises to streamline the workflow. Instead of exporting data to a third-party auditor to check for underpayments, the capability will soon be native to the platform the CFO uses every day.

Jonathan Besler, former CEO of the target company, will join Kodiak as a Vice President, ensuring that the algorithmic “recovery” is backed by human nuance. Meanwhile, founder Philip Besler will retire, marking the end of an era for the family-founded firm and its transition into a modern SaaS powerhouse. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
