This Stunning Grand Piano Was Inspired By Hypercar Design … from Maxim Beau Hayhoe

A light touch and true artistry guides the world’s best piano players, but what about the form of the piano itself? Iranian designer Mohammad Limucci’s stunning vision for the Porochista Piano challenges what the instrument can be in every way possible.

The recent recipient of a coveted Silver ‘A’ Design Award, the Porochista Piano sees the architect and interior designer draw inspiration not from the world of music, but from the high-octane world of hypercars.

The stunning object is outfitted with all the bells and whistles a tech achievement requires (and a playable piano necessitates), and adds to an impressive portfolio of work from Limucci that “combines modern and contemporary styles with inspiration from Persian history and culture,” the A Design Awards said.

Describing the jaw-dropping piano, Limucci notes in an Instagram post that the Porochista “is a fusion of tradition, modernity, and technology, equipped with digital features.” Chief among those digital features is a 20-inch touchscreen intended for note-taking and recording, while a mixture of matte and glass composites make up the form of the utterly eye-catching merger between music, modern art and powerful hypercars.

As Hypebeast reports, designer Luigi Colani served as a key source of inspiration in Limucci’s work, resulting in “flowing, organic transitions and a “floating” rear section that mimics the active aerodynamics of a Pagani or Koenigsegg,” the publication noted. And as the ‘A’ Design Awards also point out in praising Limucci’s award-winning work, the use of bronze accents against striking, crisp matte black help to give the “piano a refined beauty that caters to modern and diverse tastes.”

Limucci’s body of work has also lately seen him dream up a self-driving electric car concept, and curiously enough, his Porochista Piano is similarly bold and luxurious in matters of form and function. The ‘A’ Design Awards added that the elegant grand piano “enhances the visual appeal of any space and, with its modern technologies, provides a new level of performance and functionality for both professional musicians and music enthusiasts.”

It seems Limucci succeeded in his goal of creating “a piano that would capture the attention of interior designers and modern enthusiasts alike,” he told the ‘A’ Design Awards. With a new year in full swing, it’s anyone’s guess what Limucci might create out of thin air next.
