Most of us run with our smartphones. In years past, we’ve had to carry them in hydration vests, belts, arm bands, and awkward apparel pockets. More recently, hip pockets on short and long tights have held our phones securely and accessibly. Why I Love Sports Bras That Have Pockets
Phone pockets on sports bras have revolutionized how I carry my phone. It’s one of those inventions that makes you wonder why no one figured it out sooner. The greatest benefit to the trend is that it leverages the very nature of a sports bra: bras are compressive and keep things from bouncing, so your phone is held close to the body and moves minimally.
Sports bras with the pocket on the front work fairly well, and the phone is easy to access (especially for those with tight shoulders, like me). Bras that carry phones in the side pockets work, too. But I’ve found that a pocket on the upper middle back of a sports bra secures a phone better, balanced close to the center of my body, with less bounce, than carrying it virtually any other place on the body—it’s a true gamechanger.
