Off-Road Skating Through Iceland

Off-road inline skating has always lived on the fringes, somewhere between endurance sport, backcountry curiosity, and pure childhood joy. But for Björn Hunger, a skater who’s spent more than a decade rolling down dirt tracks and volcanic gravel, it’s become a way to explore wild places.

After years of daydreaming and planning, Hunger finally took his skates to the place he’d always imagined: Iceland. He and a small crew spent days weaving across volcanic plains, black-sand roads, and wind-scoured highlands, filming the whole ride as they went. The result is a seven-minute short that captures the odd, thrilling beauty of taking a niche sport into one of the harshest landscapes on Earth.

This video follows Hunger as he skates the remote highlands of Iceland for the first time.
