Datavant Acquires DigitalOwl to Transform Medical Data Analysis

What You Should Know:

Datavant, a data collaboration platform for healthcare, has announced an agreement to acquire DigitalOwl, a company specializing in AI-driven medical data analysis. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

– The acquisition will significantly expand Datavant’s capabilities, making health data more accessible and actionable for the legal and insurance industries. The goal is to transform a market that often suffers from time-consuming and error-prone medical record reviews.

An End-to-End Solution for Complex Workflows

Today, manual medical record reviews delay case resolutions for legal clients and claim approvals for insurance members, while driving up costs. DigitalOwl’s proprietary AI technology is built to classify and annotate unstructured medical data, streamlining the review process and providing teams with actionable, contextualized insights. Datavant plans to solve these challenges by integrating DigitalOwl’s proprietary technology with Ontellus’ health records retrieval and claims intelligence capabilities.

The resulting end-to-end data collaboration platform will feature:

  • Managed retrieval
  • Automated summaries, chronology, and de-duplication
  • AI-enabled predictive analytics

“Manually reviewing medical records and extracting the necessary information for underwriting, cases and claims work is time-consuming and costly,” said Yuval Man, CEO of DigitalOwl. “At DigitalOwl, we’ve focused exclusively on applying advanced technology to automate manual processes and address pain points across the workflow. Joining forces with Datavant will enable us to accelerate our mission and deliver even greater value for our partners and customers.”
